“BAM” Lego® Wall

Brand Art Installation
Madera Apartments, Mountain View, CA – 2013

Two large-scale Lego® walls designed for a game room located at the Madera Apartments in Mountain View, CA. Amenity included two Sony Playstation® game consoles, as well as traditional board games. This newly designed residential community, managed by Prometheus Real Estate Group, was designed to appeal to commuters working at Googleplex, the Alphabet Inc. headquarters. Inspired by Lichtenstein and comic books, the design reflects the playfulness associated with a space dedicated to gaming. Over 3,000 bricks were individually glued and pressed into the game room walls to create the finished art installation.

“POW” Lego® Wall

A more tonal companion piece installed on the opposing wall, the completed installation frames a bank of flat screen video monitors connected to the Playstation® game consoles. Both compositions are built from four overlapping layers of Lego® plates producing a low relief projection from the surface of the wall.

Lego® Wall Installation

Over the course of five days on site in Mountain View, CA, thousands of individual Lego® pieces were organized by color, size, and shape; arranged on the wall using a map showing the precise location of every piece; pressed and glued in place, layer by layer, until all 3,000+ pieces were used.
